Something isn't working in your life.

You know the "What" - you've read self-help books and maybe even worked with a therapist, and you know it's all about self-love and self-acceptance.  But why are you still struggling? How do you accept yourself when you get triggered? Or when you find yourself in a shame spiral? What do you do when your inner critics are especially harsh?

Maybe you've found something that works... for a while, but then you fall back to old ways and never understand why. You want the whole thing to get better and to finally, truly shift. And you want to find a way to be present with all of it. You want to learn to be with the full range of your experience and the feelings that come.

What if there was a path you could take toward creating lasting change in your life? 

Inner Relationship Focusing is like the html code for the "How" - How to actually love and accept yourself when things are hard and when you're struggling with a particularly tough life issue. How to love youƒrself when you've been spinning your wheels stuck in patterns that don't serve you. How to love yourself when you feel particularly hurt and wounded, or cut off and numb, or anxious and frazzled. Or when you just feel triggered AF.

  • You want to create more enriching relationships... but it’s hard when you get triggered and caught in old, familiar patterns.

Inner Relationship Focusing is a way of slowing down and sensing how your body is holding and living in the situations in your life, so that your next steps naturally emerge. Focusing feels good. It brings emotional healing so you're finally free to move in the direction that you want in life.

By learning and practicing Inner Relationship Focusing consistently, you can:

  • Experience inner shifts that feel like fresh air

  • Find freedom from inner critics

  • Dissolve inner conflicts

  • Overcome procrastination and action blocks

  • Release bad habits and addictions

  • Become free to choose healthier relational patterns

  • Create a relationship with life itself that's safer, freer, richer, and more fulfilling

 

What you'll learn...

In this course, you will develop the embodied ability to offer your compassionate, curious attention to whatever arises within. You will understand and experience the four basic stages of a Focusing process.

You will learn the basics of a special kind of language called Presence Language, which facilitates an inner environment of change.

 

You will learn how to conduct a Focusing Partnership, where you offer your neutral presence to witness and reflect another's experience, and be supported by someone companioning your process.

What is Focusing Partnership?

My teachers have found over their 80+ years teaching Focusing that it's best learned in partnership. This is a dyad process where one person is Focuser and one is Companion, and then you swap, splitting your session time evenly. 

 

You will have a mini session in class each week and one practice session between classes with an assigned partner, which is typically less than 50 minutes in total.

Note: This course fulfills the pre-requisite for Path to Lasting Change Part Two taught by Ann Weiser Cornell.

Course Policies & Logistics

  1. This is a live, cohort-based course, which means that your engaged participation is an essential part of everyone's learning. Please plan to attend each class, arrive on time, and participate with your full presence. Magic happens when you show up fully!
     

  2. Reading the materials and participating in Focusing Partnership is a key aspect to learning Focusing. Please plan to set aside about an hour per week outside of class for your partnership and study time.
